Shri Chandresekara Bharathi
The Shankaracharya Swamigal of Sringeri Sharadha Peetam – 34th Pontiff
Life Mission – Preservation of our Sanathana (Vedic) Dharma.
His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Chandrasekarendra Bharathi, the Shankaracharya Swamigal of Shri Sringeri Sharadha Peetam became its 34th Pontiff in the year 1912. He was born on 16th of October, 1892. (Poorvapalghuni Nakshtra)
On His benedictory address, Periyava proclaimed “You should prove yourself by your deeds and not by mere talk. Just as all of you have assembled here in thousands from distant parts of our country on a single mission, all of us should jointly pursue the ways and means of protecting Sanatana and eternal dharma. Preservation of our ancient Gurukulam System of Vedic and its allied studies must be our prime aim of our life. “Dharmo Rakshathi Rakshithaha”“(Dharma protects one who protects it)
The Jagadguru, who walked the earth between 1892 and 1954, was variously described—Jivanmukta, Mahapurusha and Stithapragna. His life and teachings are bound to be a beacon light for generations to come. If the Acharya leaves devotees spellbound even half a century after his samadhi, one can imagine the power of his presence in Sringeri.
His Holiness left his mortal coil, on the most auspicious Mahalaya Amavasya day i.e. 26th September 1954.
